Senator Mitch McConnell hospitalized with a concussion after falling in Washington D.C.

Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell, 81, is in the hospital after suffering a fall, according to news reports. The senator is being treated for a concussion.

The senate Republican leader from Kentucky fell while attending a dinner in Washington, D.C. yesterday.

It’s reported that the dinner took place at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC, which was previously known as the Trump International Hotel, Washington D.C.

36,000 adults ages 65 and older fall in the United States every year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC notes that falls are the main cause of injury in this age group.^[] 

According to the CDC, 20 percent of falls result in broken bones or head injury.^[]

Back in 2019, McConnell fell and fractured his shoulder.
