The Use of a Ureteral Access Sheath for the Urethral Dilatation and Catheterization of Difficult Urethral Strictures
Urologia Internationalis, 10/22/09
Athanasopoulos A et al. – The authors propose 'access sheath'–assisted urethral dilatation as a safe and simple alternative for the 'first–line' catheterization and, possibly, management of 'difficult' urethral strictures.
A. Athanasopoulos, 10/28/09
| In everyday clinical practice a difficult urethral catheterization is a relatively frequent problem, because of urethral strictures, which is not easy to overcome. With this simple technique even the most difficult urethral strictures would be over passed without trauma for the urethra. After this process a catheterization is possible. Following this dilatation a percentage of patients remain stricture free. |
