Nocturnal penile erections: the diagnostic value of tumescence and rigidity activity units
International Journal of Impotence Research, 10/09/09
Elhanbly S et al. –On estimating the highest diagnostic accuracy of RAU and TAU, it ranged from 67.8 to 73.7% for the single best event and from 68.4 to 74.2% for the total night. When using the newly computed units, the highest diagnostic accuracy did not exceed 75.9%.
S Elhanbly, 10/15/09
| This article was done on a large number (639) of night RigiScan records. This large number of sessions generates a relaible statistcal analysis and hence more accurate results. Another strength of this trial is that we did 4 unpreceeded computations to increase the diagnostic power of activity units but it failed to do so. The findings we got from this study may convince some clinicians working on cases of erectile dysfunction (ED) to revert to the conventional (standard) diagnostic criteria on using RigiScan records to differeniate psychogenic from organic ED. |
