Exclusive Author Commentary
Ajay K. Israni, 09/16/09

Prior to this study, it was not known who sees patients in the outpatient setting after kidney transplantation. This study has shown that patient groups, especially minorities, those living in urban areas, living close to the transplant center and with low income, are at high risk for not having regular followup. It will be important to target these patient groups for regular followup, in the clinical setting.
