Jurhill RR et al. – In a case study of 2 prostate cancer (PCa) pts, 1 pt presented with a castration-resistant cancer and 1 with a temporary decrease in serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) lasting for at least 4 mo.
Methods- 1 pt had a castration-resistant cancer whose rising serum PSA levels showed a remarkable drop after a reactivated varicella-zoster virus infection treated with valaciclovir.
- 1 pt had a temporary decrease in serum PSA lasting for at least 4 mo.
- In the pt with castration-resistant PCa, serum PSA decreased to <0.01 μg/l and has remained undetectable since.
