Smith F et al. - Polyoma virus nephropathy is an important cause of graft dysfunction in kidney transplant recipients and screening to prevent disease has been advocated. Reductions in immunosuppression cover the cost of screening for polyoma viral infection. Longer-term follow-up is needed to ensure patient outcomes remain acceptable.
