Nagaki T et al. – Carotid endarterectomy for severe carotid stenosis consistently and significantly benefits patients with recent symptoms. However, surgery for asymptomatic stenosis appears justified only in carefully selected conditions: low treatment risks in relatively young individuals without any comorbidities.
