Kaufman CS et al. – A real–time web–based quality improvement program facilitates breast center input, providing immediate comparisons with other centers and results serially over time. Data may be used by centers to recognize high–quality care they provide or to identify areas for quality improvement. Initial results demonstrate the power and potential of web–based tools for data collection and analysis from hundreds of centers who care for thousands of patients.

All breast centers can now compare themselves with other similar centers across the country by participating in the no-cost web-based quality assessment program. Centers that can compare themselves with other centers will strive to improve and excel. Using a set of process-focused questions, we believe the quality of care for all centers who use this program will improve. Audits help maintain accuracy of data submission. Over 200 breast centers from every State in the Country have participated.
