Schoretsanitis G et al. - Parathyroid carcinoma constitutes a rare cause of hyperparathyroidism. Preoperative recognition and intraoperative identification of this rare endocrine malignancy require a high index of clinical suspicion. Intraoperative awareness is needed of the malignant potential of the encountered lesion.
