Ercp after roux-en-y reconstruction can be carried out using an oblique-viewing endoscope with an overtube
Digestive Endoscopy, 06/25/09
Kikuyama M et al. - The results appear to support the feasibility of using an oblique-viewing endoscope for ERCP in Roux-en-Y reconstruction. Further studies including a large population of patients should be planned to confirm these results.
Masataka Kikuyama, 06/25/09
| In post-gastrectomy patients with Roux-en-Y reconstruction, ERCP has been considered to be too hard to perform. The endoscope with an ovberbute can make it possible to reach the major papila and cannulate a desired duct in many cases. The most problem is that the endoscope is not easily obtained in other countries than Japan. If you have a opportunity to operate the endoscope in ERCP of postgastrectomy patients, you can feel another world. |
