The use of vacuum assisted closure therapy in the management of Fourniers gangrene
The American Journal of Surgery, 05/13/09
Ozturk E et al. - VAC therapy is an effective and economical way to manage Fournier's gangrene. Patients and physicians were more satisfied with VAC therapy than with conventional treatment.
Ersin Ozturk, 05/13/09
In our clinical practice we've found VAC therapy extremely convinient and effective, particularly, for the treatment of patients with Fournier's gangrene or necrotizing soft tissue infections. I think it will be most benefical for physicians who work in hospitals where they can not find enough secondary personnel to share their workload, because VAC significantly reduces the hands-on-time while dealing with those kind of diseases. |
