Langerhans cells and T cells sense cell dysplasia in oral leukoplakias and oral squamous cell carcinomas - evidence for immunosurveillance
Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 05/03/2012
Ohman J et al. – Confocal laser scanning microscopy revealed colocalisation of Langerhans cells (LCs) and T cells in Leukoplakias (LPLs) with dysplasia and in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). LCs and T cells are more numerous in tissue compartments with dysplastic epithelial cells and dramatically increase in OSCC. This indicates an ongoing immune response against cells with dysplasia.
