| Too often are work immigrants "transparent" in western societies. I believe that we have an obligation to give special attention to the health of those "transparent" men and women. To do so we must be aware of the changing epidemiology of severe diseases in an age of work migration and globalization. This article deals with the changing epidemiology of gout and the metabolic syndrome in work migrant women. I hope it will encourage doctors to seek for these conditions in young migrant Asian women and take action to prevent their complications. |
