Osteoporosis International, 09/23/09
Rozenfeld Y et al. – These data suggest that middle–aged women are moderately receptive to the concept of web–based care for certain components of osteoporosis management and education.
Y. Rozenfeld, 09/23/09
| Web-based programs that can allow for interaction between patients and caregivers outside the office setting provide a new opportunity for care to be provided in a more flexible setting. In a healthcare environment currently experiencing a shortage of primary care providers a website that facilitates and promotes self-management could replace some fraction of traditional clinic encounters and thereby increase physician availability for acute care needs. In addition, the findings suggesting patients’ reservations towards interactive website, especially, among elderly and less-educated women, highlighted the importance of devising alternative strategies for properly engaging these groups in osteoporosis management activities. |
