Ward WE - Fragility fractures resulting from osteoporosis are a leading cause of morbidity and even mortality in developed countries. Dietary components such as omega-3 fatty acids and soy isoflavones may play a positive role in bone health, and this is an active area of study. Combining healthful foods together with current pharmacological agents that preserve bone mass and strength may be an effective and safe strategy for prevention and/or treatment of osteoporosis.
