Damjanovska L et al. - The diagnostic performance of the anti-MCV test in the differential diagnosis of early arthritis is lower compared to the anti-CCP tests.

Exclusive Author Commentary
M M Thabet, 06/02/09

Although several novel auto-antibody assays have been developed, Anti-CCP2 test remains the best diagnostic test for diagnosing rheumatoid arthritis in an early arthritis context. In clinical practice the autoantibody tests are primarily used to differentiate early rheumatoid arthritis from other causes of early inflammatory arthritis, therefore the diagnostic performance of auto-antibodies in rheumatoid arthritis patients should be compared to other causes of inflammatory arthritis rather than to healthy controls.
