Xynos ID et al. - The authors report 2 new cases of leishmaniasis involving patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases who received anti–tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) agents. They also reviewed all similar cases from Europe reported in the literature, and they discuss the implications of leishmaniasis in the setting of anti-TNF therapy, which is associated with increased risk for opportunistic infections.
