Iyengar KP et al. - A case report of primary septic arthritis of the acromio-clavicular (A-C) joint caused by Staphylococcus aureus w/o any predisposing factors.
- Left shoulder pain, restricted movements and fever
- High CRP, raised ESR and leucocytosis
- Blood cultures - positive for Staphylococcus-aureus
- Marked effusion in the A-C joint
- Heavy growth of Staphylococcus-aureus in A-C joint
- Pt was successfully treated with 8 wks of appropriate antibiotics with complete resolution of infection and return to full function
