Balbir-Gurman A et al. - Treatment of ISU remains a challenge, especially in the setting of SSc. Underlying occlusive phenomena may be responsible for the failure of ISU healing. The authors suggest that OAC may be safe and well tolerated and, as a part of complex therapy, may contribute to ISU healing and the reduction of new ISU formation. The usefulness of fixed low-dose OAC in patients with SSc and ISU in the absence of known coagulation abnormalities needs further evaluation.
