Thomas J et al. - Melioidosis is an infection caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei. It is an important human pathogen in the tropical area. The clinical manifestations are protean with multisystem involvement. Septic arthritis and prostatic abscess are rare but well-recognized forms of the disease.
