Update in Rheumatology: Highlights from the 2008 ACR and EULAR Meetings (CME)

Date: December 6, 2009
Location: La Jolla, California 92093, United States
Email: ocme@ucsd.edu
URL: http://cme.ucsd.edu/rheumatology/
Description: With progress in understanding the immunopathophysiologic basis of systemic inflammatory autoimmune disorders has come a variety of therapeutic agents. Perhaps the greatest excitement has surrounded the biologic agents that are able to target specific components of the immune system. Several classes of biologic agents have proven highly effective in diverse rheumatologic disorders. Because of rapid progress in the field, the latest developments are often highlighted in abstract form at important scientific congresses. Because this important new information is relevant to the clinical care of patients, it is critical that information from the meetings be rapidly disseminated. Hence, there is great value in a careful and systematic review of the latest information, for example, data presented at rheumatology congresses; in particular, the annual meetings of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR). In order to accomplish this, for this program, the organisers have assembled an outstanding faculty of superlative lecturers who have extensive expertise in these areas. At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to: 1)Be knowledgeable on measuring outcomes for RA 2)Be aware of the newest safety issues affecting RA 3)Know what to do when standard therapies fail 4)Be aware of the latest data on SLE 5)Understand PsA, AS, Gout. Venue: Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center
