Truijers M et al. – USPIO uptake is limited or absent in the wall of normal–sized aortas and most aneurysms. However, individual abdominal aortic aneurysms exhibit high levels of USPIO uptake, indicative of extensive macrophage infiltration in the aneurysm wall.
