Three-Dimensional Flow Characteristics in Aortic Coarctation and Poststenotic Dilatation
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 10/01/09
Markl M et al. – The authors present findings from a scientific study in a 36–year–old male patient who was transferred for the evaluation of a restenosis in aortic coarctation that was initially treated by surgical repair. Contrast–enhanced magnetic resonance angiography and comprehensive flow–sensitive 4–dimensional magnetic resonance imaging for the evaluation of 3–dimensional blood flow in the entire thoracic aorta demonstrated distinct flow pattern changes associated with the disease, demonstrating a potential link between altered vascular hemodynamics and the development of vascular disease.
