Posttransplant Complex Inferior Venacava Balloon Dilatation After Hepatic Vein Stenting
Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, 07/28/09
Kohli V et al. – The authors encountered a patient with hepatic venous outflow tract obstruction, where the hepatic vein had been previously stented, but the patient continued to have symptoms due to additional IVC obstruction. The patient required double–balloon dilatation of the IVC simultaneously from the internal jugular vein and IVC.
Vikas Kohli, 07/29/09
| The Hepatic stent appeared embedded in the IVC wall facing the hepatic vein. This raised a lot of pre-procedure issues about crossing the stent, ballooning it or possibility of tear of the IVC walll if fibrosis had hapenned. The article emphasizes the need to prepare well in such procedures and cautions about first intervention when a second maybe needed later. Algorithms of future possibilities must be borne in mind prior to the primary intervention. |
