Myeloid related protein 8/14 levels in children with obstructive sleep apnoea
European Respiratory Journal , 07/20/09
Kim J et al. – Plasma MRP 8/14 levels are associated with pediatric OSA and may reflect increased risk for cardiovascular morbidity. The short–term and long–term consequences of elevated MRP 8/14 on cardiovascular function in the context of pediatric OSA remain to be defined.
D. Gozal, 07/20/09
| This study attempts to identify and provide more reliable early markers of endothelial dysfunction in the context of OSA in children. As such, MRP 8/14 emerges as a potential biomarker of OSA and of cardiovascular risk in children. These findings justify further studies attempting to define the specific predictive role of this marker either in isolaiton or along with other biomerkers in pediatric sleep apnea. |
