Age specific differences in pediatric obstructive sleep apnea
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology , 06/11/09
Don DM et al. - There is a predilection for children less than 3 years of age to have more severe obstructive sleep apnea as documented by polysomnography. Central apnea also appears to be more common in this age group. These findings may be explained by anatomic and physiologic differences related to age and support a period of observation following adenotonsillectomy in younger children.
