Mild cognitive impairment in moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a preliminary study
Chest, 06/12/2012
Villeneuve S et al. – In this preliminary study, a substantial proportion of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients were found to have mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a known risk factor for dementia. Longitudinal follow–up on these patients is needed to determine the risk of developing more severe cognitive and functional impairments. Moreover, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment is superior to the Mini–Mental State Examination in detecting MCI in COPD patients.
