Annals of Thoracic Medicine, 01/09/2012
Duru S et al. – The serum hepcidin level that is decreased in severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease brings into mind that it may play a role in the mechanism to prevent hypoxemia. The results suggest that serum hepcidin level may be a useful marker in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Larger prospective studies are needed to confirm the findings between hepcidin and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
