Setting can deeply influence motivation to quit smoking,in our study the introduction of the ban increased the level of motivation to quit smoking among smokers who chose to enroll in our program. Recent findings show that whole groups of people can quit smoking in concert through formation of social networks maintained bu emulation and self-reinforcing norms. Our data suggest that the introduction of an indoor smoking ban may have improved the efficacy of smoking cessation treatments by providing a setting that acted by improving motivation to stop smoking.
