Application of the Knowledge-to-Action and Medical Research Council frameworks in the development of an osteoporosis clinical decision support tool
Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, 08/17/2012
Kastner M et al. – The combined frameworks can be used to map the process for translating evidence into practice by addressing potential barriers, and anticipating how knowledge will be sustained and disseminated.
Methods- Descriptive analysis of how the Knowledge-to-Action and Medical Research Council frameworks can be applied in the development of an osteoporosis tool.
- An osteoporosis tool was developed using a seven-phase process by collapsing the “action” steps of the Knowledge-to-Action cycle and phases of the Medical Research Council framework.
- Analysis of this procedure informed a proposed seven-step process that may be applied by others in the development of knowledge translation tools and complex interventions.
