Detection of new methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus that carry novel genetic homologue and important virulence determinants
Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 07/27/2012
Sabat AJ et al. – In contrast to previous data, authors found two MRSA strains of different clonal lineages possessing SCCmec XI that carried important virulence determinants. The worrysome emergence of such toxigenic MRSA strains raises concerns that MRSA with enhanced virulence potential and impaired detectability by standard molecular assays may spread in Europe.
