Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections as an effective treatment for early osteoarthritis
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 07/11/2012
Jang SJ et al. – There was a statistically significant negative correlation between patient age and the platelet–rich plasma (PRP) potential in the VAS score and International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score. The presence of patellofemoral joint (PFJ) degeneration is expected to produce a worse outcome. While intra–articular PRP injection can be used for the treatment of early OA, increasing age, and developing degeneration result in a decreased potential for PRP injection therapy.
