High-sensitive troponin T and N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide are associated with cardiovascular events despite the cross-sectional association with albuminuria and glomerular filtration rate

Scheven L et al. – These data indicate that a finding of an increased hsTnT or N–terminal pro–B–type natriuretic peptide (NT–pro–BNP) in subjects with chronic kidney disease stages 1/3 should be taken seriously as a prognostic marker for a worse cardiovascular outcome and not be discarded as merely a reflection of decreased renal clearance.
