Overcoming evasive resistance from vascular endothelial growth factor A inhibition in sarcomas by genetic or pharmacologic targeting of hypoxia inducible factor 1
International Journal of Cancer, 06/11/2012
Kim YJ et al. – Sarcomas respond to increased hypoxia by expressing hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF–1α) –target genes which may promote resistance to anti–angiogenic and other therapies. Adding HIF–1α inhibition blocks resistance and augments destruction of the tumor vasculature.
