Safety of bivalirudin in percutaneous coronary intervention following thrombolytic therapy
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 05/31/2012
Sardi GL et al. – The use of bivalirudin (BIV) in patients presenting with ST–segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who were pretreated with thrombolytic therapy and who subsequently underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is safe and is associated with less ischemic and bleeding events when compared to unfractionated heparin (UFH), and should be considered as the first line anticoagulant for these patients during PCI.
