Although the overall U.S. population has good levels of some essential vitamins and nutrients, deficiency rates can vary according to age, gender, or race/ethnicity. Although Americans generally have good levels of vitamins A and D and folate, some groups are lacking in levels of vitamin D and iron, according to a CDC report.
