Hypothyroidism
U.S. Pharmacist, 10/07/09
Freeman G et al. – Hypothyroidism is a chronic condition that afflicts millions of Americans. Proper and timely diagnosis, along with correct treatment, can go a long way toward reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with this disease state. Measurement of TSH and T4 blood concentrations remains the standard method of diagnosis. Levothyroxine is the current treatment of choice; when used correctly, it alleviates the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism.
