Osborne NG et al. – The increase in incidence of Clostridium difficile—induced pseudomembranous colitis corresponds with increased use of wide–spectrum antibiotics in hospitalized patients. Hospitals must develop strict guidelines for antibiotic use along with effective infection–control measures to reverse the rise in incidence and severity of pseudomembranous colitis.
