There is a causal association between genetically elevated lipoprotein levels and an increased risk of myocardial infarction. Data from 40,486 white participants were evaluated using mendelian randomization approaches and instrumental variable analysis. Elevated lipoprotein levels were associated with an increased risk of MI. As the lipoprotein concentration increased, so did the risk of MI.
