Major burn injuries prompt physiological changes that may affect the pharmacokinetic properties of some drugs. Fluid imbalances early in the post–burn period followed by a hypermetabolic phase contribute to changes in exposure, which may result in the need for higher dosages to achieve target plasma drug concentrations.
