Intensifying diabetes therapy improves A1C without adversely affecting health status
American Pharmacists Association, 06/26/09
According to the findings of an analysis recently published in Diabetes Care, intensifying therapy for type 2 diabetes improves glycemic control with no worsening of anxiety, depression, or health status. The study found that elderly, lower income, and minority patients with type 2 diabetes especially benefited from intensifying therapy because these patients experience a disproportionate burden of diabetes and its complications and are less likely to be prescribed intensifying antihyperglycemic therapy.
