Pareek A et al. - The losartan/low-dose chlorthalidone combination is as effective as the widely used losartan/hydrochlorothiazide combination in lowering BP and is well tolerated, thus providing a useful therapeutic option for treating mild-to-moderate hypertension.

Exclusive Author Commentary
Anil Pareek, 06/16/09

In this study chlorthalidone 6.25 mg in combination with losartan was compared with hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg in combination with losartan in the treatment of essential hypertension. Losartan - chlorthalidone combination was found to be as effective as losartan - hydrochlorothiazide in lowering BP. Thus again confirming that chlorthalidone is twice as potent as hydrochlorothiazide.
