Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha is a proinflammatory cytokine that plays a key role in inflammatory processes. Certolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody (mAb) that neutralizes TNF-alpha. This agent was approved on May 2009, for the treatment of adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis.
