The mechanism of action of iloperidone, a psychotropic agent, is unknown, but researchers have proposed that the agent's efficacy is mediated through antagonism of dopamine type 2 (D2) and serotonin type 2 (5-HT2). This agent was approved on May 2009, for the acute treatment of adult patients with schizophrenia.
