Baldwin G - Nearly five years ago, Rochester (N.Y.) General Health System plowed almost $2 million into digital imaging equipment and a picture archiving and communications system. The health system had three areas of ROI to measure: film cost, physician satisfaction and radiologist recruitment. It has recouped its financial investment through reduced film expenses and staff expenses. And on physician satisfaction surveys conducted before and after the deployment, both referring physicians and staff radiologists praised the system.
