Daily intake of sulforaphane-rich broccoli sprouts for 2 months reduced Helicobacter pylori colonization and reduced gastritis in humans. Using broccoli sprouts as the delivery method of sulforaphane, a biologically active isothiocyanate, Yanaka et al. sought to assess the efficacy of fresh broccoli sprouts in reducing Helicobacter pylori growth in humans. The report contains results from a randomized, controlled study of 48 H. pylori infected persons who were assigned to eat 70 grams of broccoli sprout daily daily or an equal amount of alfalfa sprouts for 8 weeks.
