A pilot program in London managed by two primary care trusts will allow trained pharmacists to dispense oral contraceptives under a physician’s authorization to patients, not unlike the initial change in Rx availability of the emergency oral contraceptive levonorgestrel (Plan B—Duramed) through statewide initiatives before it was switched to OTC status in the United States.
