Berrios-Colon E - There has been much advancement in the area of smoking-cessation efforts over the last 10 years. Researchers have begun to look more closely at adolescent smokers in clinical trials and to attempt to determine safe and effective treatments for this special population. Continued research, increased awareness by youths of smoking-related illnesses, and outreach programs all can help adolescents to never pick up a cigarette or to finally put the cigarette down.
