Responsive management style and a patient-first philosophy. Reports to Corporate VP of Pharmacy and helps with oversight of 4 other Pharmacy Directors
Position Summary:
The Corporate Director of Pharmacy is responsible for all areas of clinical pharmacy operations to include but not be limited to: leadership of Pharmacy service line, regulatory compliance, clinical pharmacy support initiatives that impact drug utilization, clinical education and healthcare staff development, management of appropriate medication utilization, strategic planning, day-to-day operations, financial management, and overseeing effective communication and training among healthcare personnel.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring the development of drug utilization review and other clinical initiatives pertaining to positive outcome and cost savings that impact drug utilization
Ensures the provision of education and support to all facility pharmacy staff with regard to clinical protocol justification, execution, and implementation.
Assists facility pharmacies, as needed, with the development and maintenance of an approved Formulary. Provides related documentation to assist with efforts for Formulary inclusion or exclusion. Assists with the establishment of specifications for the procurement of medications, chemicals and biologicals.
Assists to identify potential cost-savings opportunities via appropriate Formulary management.
Assists, makes recommendations, develops and implements improved clinical procedures and best practices to minimize and prevent future adverse medication events. Facilitates the medication education needs of other healthcare professionals.
Job Requirements
Maintains an active pharmacy license in the State ofCalifornia
Must have acute care experience in the State of California
MS or Doctoral Degree (preferred)
Ability to collaborate and work with others as a team to achieve common goals
Thorough knowledge of medications and pharmacy clinical activities
Prior experience as a clinical coordinator, clinical manager and development of healthcare protocols
Management background in cost-effective drug therapy via clinical protocols
Experience as a Director of Pharmacy or an Assistant Director of Pharmacy for an acute care hospital in the state of CA - preferably a healthcare system
Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital Directors of Pharmacy and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests.
Foster a team environment by providing clinical education, communication, support, and training to new pharmacy team members. Ability to manage a diverse workforce.
Strong oral and written communication skills when working with other healthcare providers, primarily physicians, pharmacists, and nurses.
Technologically competent,
Experience with maximizing the financial impact relative to all aspects of pharmacy management
