Miyamoto K et al. – Hyponatremia associated with diarrhea is usually caused by dehydration, with salt loss accompanying the excessive loss of water. On the other hand, hyponatremia in this setting can occasionally be caused by excess ingestion or administration of hypotonic fluids.
